You will want to weather the metal areas as normal- tone down the brightness with some brown washes etc. When you have done that you will want to mix up a watery light turquoise colour (hawk turquoise plus white works fine, some people add another green to it so its up to you) and apply in patches or in crevices. Less is more here, and you can build up the colour in layers, though you want it a little bit patchy and transparent. Once you are happy with the opacity of the first colour, make it really, really light and apply sparingly into the very deepest crevices or in the centre of the patches.

Hope that helps!

If you are doing brass or copper dull down the area with neutral brown glazes a bit larger than your planned verdigris area. Then get yourself a nice greenish/blue colour, you can go more blue if you like or more green. Water it down almost to a wash and layer that onto your area, to areas where water would pool or wear of the metal would be restricted. Adding more of a off-white colour to your mix to suggest a larger deposit of verdigris as you go along.

Another way is to go and buy some soft pastels at your local art shop and shave some off with a blade, mix with water and apply. It will give you a slightly powdery effect but without the ability to show whiter deposits.
