*sigh* about the river troll faces.. feel like a massive backward step from the old school ones unfortunately..

wow. they're really continuing with the pumba theme through their boars now too.. not sure i like it; seems like there's too much 'farm pig' and too little 'wild boar' in those faces for my liking. I think it's the lack of hair on the face, and the large amount of pink on the front of those snouts and foreheads..

Yeah not really a fan of the Boars, but at least they are a little better then those old ones that they had for decades!

I like the look of the trolls, something intrigues me about them, I definatly want to see the sprues before I commit to them, perhaps something I may even consider for GD, if they are good in the flesh.

I love them all!

The trolls are caricatured but not too much - in my opinion they exude some sort of stupid cruelty and not really black evil (brilliant!).

The boar riders look much more like they are riding wild beasts, and not some gentle woodland creatures, and the boars themselves are spot on with their dynamic poses and wild crazy eyes that make them look like they are really straining to tear into the enemy (or throw the riders - whatever comes first :P)

I like the Trolls. Especially the one on the right.
Not sure on the boars. It seems GW have gone for a more 'cartoony' feel. I first noted it in some of the Skaven stuff - it's a smooth, almost CG feel - could it be the CAD system they now use for the sprues? The forms are kinda blocky, look at the hands on the Trolls for instance. It works extremely well on occasion but fails sometimes (the Minotaurs for example).

hehe i guess i agree to disagree with you both

to be fair though, i do think the armoured boar face looks miles better than the old ones, and the boar with the half-closed eyes looks okay..

I think with the trolls, i struggle with the angular nature of a lot of the sculpt. i think the paint job really enhances these sharper body contours, but unfortunately for me they just look like they're built up from polygons.. I do agree with Sprue though, in that I think the one on the right is the best of the three..

not bad at at all, but i think i prefer the metal rivertrolls.... the ork boys are nice though, finally a boar that looks like it's able to carry an ork

i think i don't like the trolls because of the poligon thing mentioned earler, i agree with peter on the cartoony feel, i don't think iam necessarily a fan of that..... they should have stuck with the realistic effect used for cold ones knights and the lotr dragon.... but i presume that the cartoony stuff appeals more to the youngsters....

The boars made me laugh......a lot, but I really like the trolls, especially the one on the left.

I'm gonna agree with the whole cartoony thing... it seems like lateley they are making the new fantasy models cartoony and the 40k ones more lifelike... imo. I think the boar boys are cool, though, just dont really like the paintjob... but those river trolls... I think they are pretty cool... the vomiting one reminds me of oscar the grouch... :|

EDIT: $74 for the river trolls!? why is fantasy becoming so expensive!?

I like the trolls, but not the price tag they have. Anyone else want to combine the new kan/dred kits with the trolls? or is it just me.

well gw would argue that 74 for 3 is cheaper than 105 for 3, they don't seem to consider the whole metal plastic thing.....

on the matter of combining river trolls and killa cans i dare you to do it, anyone else want to? if so we can buy a kit of trolls and 1 of cans and split it 3 ways i.e. 49 bucks each
only condition is that we use both the rivertroll and the deffdread in a single entry for gd (either combine them or use 2 different minis, doesn't matter, so long as we do use it.
now how awesome would that be?

I'm definitely interested in these, if only from a gaming view (My greenskins always need reinforcements :) ). I like the new trolls, but I have a soft spot for the old metal ones. Same with the boars, although these new ones look dynamic and charging, instead of peacefully trotting through a meadow like the old ones.

I have to say that these GW models aren't to bad, at least the boars don't have bulging out eyes like a certain other product they previously released
