I realised earlier there isn't a thread on here for new Wyrd models, so I figured I'd post these ones up as there are a couple of interesting ones coming out this month:

I like the look of the doves, and Nix looks like he could be fun to paint up. I'm reserving my judgement on Hamelin until I see him in the flesh though. A lot of parts look really good, but the head looks odd. Having said that, I don't think the angle of it would lend itself well to photos :P

I dont mind the whole "ugly rat" thing we see a lot these days. But at least make them look like rats.

Other mini's look great.

I grew up in a seaside town. I've seen a few water rats that look reminiscent of those Wyrd ones...

OK, new stuff. Some of the models I put up last time are actually in box sets, so the Hamelin stuff is going into clamshells as well. However, there are also these new ones as well:

...I think I need a few insidious madness models for my neverborn :D

That Nekima is what a succubus ought to look like. I'm quite impressed with it.

The bases are out (I won't report them as they are two posts up). However there are also these models:

I have always forund the Wyrd miniatures to be a little hit and miss with there sculpts and the theme but the 'Nekiim' looks good enough to shell out some cash on it :D

Snow Storm looks great. I'll admit that I'm really waiting for that one now I have seen what it looks like. That, and I know a few people patiently waiting for the Mobile Toolkit for the gaming advantages of it.

Hands off! I saw it first...

As already observed, the newer models are very hit and miss.

The larger models seem to have more care while the minions are very circumstantial and some wouls require killer basing and paintwork to look decent.

Some of them just look jaunty or poorly posed.

Both Desperate Mercs are crud.

I've found a few that look better when I go back and look at them later on. I think the painting does affect them, but then again, Wyrd are a smaller business than places like GW so wouldn't be able to get them out as quickly for a similar cost and level of quality. The Night Terrors above look like something that could really benefit from a lot better paint job. I'm still not too sure about the models myself.

Case in point for me are the Waldegeist models. At first look, I thought I would never see a version of those models that I would think of as 'great'. Then Jay went and did great paint jobs on them, lots of details with the leaves, and brilliant bases, and suddenyl I'm kicking myself for not seeing what could have been done with the models.

You refer, of course, to my waldgeists? Jay commissioned them for me, but the reside in my display cabinet... mwahaha!

But my main point was that the poses and sculpting for Wyrd minis is obviously rushed in order to get things out in time for the book releases... this should not be.

If you look at their earlier stuff, when they produced for painters, the quality is much higher.

Grrr. Yes, ok then, *your* Waldegeist *grumble grumble grumble* :D

I've got no idea how rushed it is. I do like the majority of models that they produce, but that's personal preference. However I do think that the models often looks very close the the book artwork which is something I like. I've yet to see one that looks one way in the artwork, but the model itself looks very different. Yes, the quality of the models has probably gone down since they started making them as a game. But then again, I'm guessing they weren't making as much money with those releases to what they make with the game. Also, if they were producing models at a rate of one or two a month (I'm guessing this was the previous case, but I wasn't aware of them when they started) when a game depends on the models, people would be pretty upset. Look at GW. The gamers get upset if the model they want doesn't end up in the first wave release, even when it is clear now there is usually going to be two waves a few months apart. If they released one or two models/kits a month, people would be furious.

Gen-Con releases announced, including some ltd. edition models and pre releases. The nightmare models coming out are Teddy, Dead Lady Justice, and there is a female convict gunslinger as well.

Also, Puppet Wars, Avatars, alternate master sculpts, and the new book are being released there as well!
