I might just put it in this once, just to see what this Games Day is all about. If the prices remain this high next year, I'm out for sure.

I am keen but the price is certainly way too high. I am thinking how many 13-16 year olds will be able to afford this? A lot of gamers etc wont be able to justify this amount. It will certainly turn a few people off the event.

Games Day in the Uk is exspensive! ive never been, and refuse to splash out 40 something pounds entry, i know afew friends that have gone and say it good, Games workshop are a buisness and threat this as a buisness, like Kyle said if you go just for the painting comp and not the gaming side of things then its bloody exspensive, ok you get your freebee mini! but hey is that all you get? but just look at the line of kids that line up, with there pocket money to go to Games day, we have salute in the Excell centre in the Docklands in London, BIG BIG one day event Put on by south London Warlords, a brillant event and not a rip off to get in! I say support the smaller events put on by local clubs/groups.. they need your support, if you want to win a resin statue fair play to you ! but dont complain about lining Games workshops Pockets .. after all the minis and paints etc we all still buy from them, also dont come cheap!

I just ordered my ticket. Things could have been worse. I wasn't paying attention to the checkout, and somehow ended up with two before I confirmed!

I'll take one off your hands, Turelio, if you can't get rid of it. I haven't ordered mine yet.

No, I caught it just before the order was processed, so only ordered one.

Something I just realised. And has not been addressed.

Remember last year when they annouced that the Demon format would remain the same, with the 3 rounds etc. Then the finalists would be displayed and judged at the Games Day weeks later.

Does that mean that you do not have to attend Games Day (ie: not fork out $75) to enter Golden Demon? Or do you have to pay for a Games Day ticket in order to enter Demon? I cant imagine that it would be $75 big ones just to enter at your local store and have your miniatures sent to GD without you? Or is it back to the no travelling to Sydney for GD, no Demon entry? GD entry numbers would definatly be down if that was the case, and probably another rise in winners predominantly from NSW and ACT again.

Also 2011 rules would be nice... There was talk about moving some more entries to Games Day (Finals Day) only categories. Would be nice to know which ones.... And now we have Games Day back, can we have back the old display plinth rules also... ? :P

yes. I think that GD will be the same format, well at least thats the word from GW staff i hear, but they are not letting me know for sure.

As for the cost? I don't know if they will have a non-attending GD ticket. Could you imagine how many people would pull out if it was $75 just to enter GD! Also how many people would simply just enter and not go to the event. But I can understand why in such a large country as ours.

Personally i like the big events and the atmosphere, so I will be going as its fun. Even if I get bored a bit and need to use my iPhone games for a few minutes to break it up. Anyway, I think that I'll order my ticket soon anyway just so I'm locked in to the commitment of painting something decent.

Just received my 2 tickets in the mail! Really excited as this will be my first ever Games Day.

At $75 a pop it seems steep, but I have paid way more for other conventions... or had the company I worked for at the time pay for them. Some trade shows are charging $200-$300 per person and all you get is entry, a lanyard with you name on it and a showbag... full of advertising and crap anyways. Most concerts are going out the door for around $50-$100+ anyways. I was gonna get tickets to Pink once, but it was $155 for average ones. Painting minis has become a very important part of my life and parting with the cash for this was easy.

See you there if you dare.

Yeah agreed Simone. Last year alone I probably forked out nearly $500 in concert tickets for my daughter and she didn't go to that many of them. Granted she is excessively (obsessively maybe) into her music so it is more of an investment of sorts, but the reality is that most entertainment these days is getting expensive.

Anyway, never been to one of these things myself, and since its a relatively short trip from the ACT I might head along. I will be the fat middle aged man wandering aimlessly wondering what I got myself into. I will shout coffee to the first person who calls me by my forum name on the day :P

My one turned up Tuesday. It's now safely stashed away with the concert tickets I have for tomorrow. I just have to keep it safe until I need it later in the year... And remember where it is.

I looked these up the other night. I'm a bit disappointed that there aren't any sculptors or painters coming over. I barely read the Black Library books, and haven't played the games in a long time, so don't have much interest in the games design side of things, so no one on this list really got me excited. If anything it was a bit of a letdown. Granted, GW could have sent no one over, so they are better than nothing. But at the same time, of the five people coming, two live in Sydney, and one lives in Canberra, so they aren't travelling too far. It's just a shame that there are going to be people there who are only there for the Golden Demon, and there are no guests aimed at that event.
