Hey Guys,

Some info here http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.p ... pic=155628 about Meg Maples from Privateer Press coming to Aus.

If you can come up with 20 people in a city Meg is happy to look at coming to your city & run a 2 day workshop.

I'd like to look at getting one going in Melbourne, I think we could come up with the 20 fairly easy, we'd need to get it sorted in the next few months.

Ditto.

I take it Meg Maples is one of PP's premier sculptors?

Meg is an American painter - she's one of PP's studio painters, now.

This is her on CMON: http://www.coolminiornot.com/browse/browseid/5921915

Nice...

So... anyone interested in getting a Sydney group together? Even if it is just to see how someone else does it and meet another international painter?

Don't mind attending if it's somewhere convenient, and if it's sometime in Sep.

She is a member here I believe (Fieldarchy?) but hasn't posted in some time. Her scores on Coolminiornot are low, much lower than I'd expect looking at the photos anyway. I'm semi interested but would need to know the cost and dates. USD $200 is a price I saw on one page.

I did grab the details from WAU (was logged in), here's the details for the Syderknee group.

Quote:

Adelaide and Sydney

Lots is still being determined
When: TBD--either before or after CanCon
Class size:20-35 people
Length: 2 Days, 16 hours

We will cover EVERYTHING! Whatever you have questions on and I have equipment to demonstrate with I will show attendees whatever they want!

I plan on covering the following:

Mini prep--cleaning, gluing tricks, priming
Basecoating--paint consistency and undercoats
2 brush blending
Glazing
Freehand
Faces, skin and hair
Color theory
True Metallics vs NMM vs Sky-Earth NMM
Display base discussion
How to store minis
Competition vs tabletop vs display
Palettes: Well vs Wet

For all of the classes if you want to learn 2 brush blending you need a Winsor & Newton Series 7 Standard Size 2 and a Raphael 8404 size 3 (or equivalents. I know these are hard to find). If a lot of people want to buy them but can't find them I can take orders and bring sets for students with me.

For the 2 day classes admission would run $200/person.

Sound good?

Would people be interested?

Because the primary focus is a 1-dayer in CanCon (well outside of CanCon but at the same time) the Sydney & Adelaide times would be either a few days before or a few days after. I'm vaguely hoping after, but could understand before. And yes, put me down as keen.

Hey guys, sorry, I didn't realise it was a locked post on WAU.

My understanding is that Meg Maples will be out in Oz for about a month & is happy to travel around during mid Jan to about mid Feb ish.

Adelaide is looking like it might be going ahead, they've got a few interested.

Just talking to some people in Melbourne I think we've got about 6-8 already fairly keen, Terry from Adelaide has been talking directly with Meg, apparently she would like to know by Oct/early Nov for bookings in other cities besides her CanCon booking, to be able to sort it out.

I'd been keen for a Sydney meetup, might be a bit limited around that time of year, but hopefully can work something in.

Try this link instead - the other one just goes to an early-stage planning thread that Terry posted.
