Okays. I have done the head of the marine. I have tried taking pictures of it so many times, but they just dont want to come out properly for some reason! So here is a pretty small pic, or sort of how it looks more in real life. I am happy with how it came out. I wanted the head to have that old veteran general sort of look (sort of like that general in Avatar), hence when it is very white and leathery looking skin. The Eagle tattoo on the side of the head was a bit of an effort to paint. and there are still problems with it. But at least it looks sort of like an Aquilia. Its not as good as the little eagle tattoos that Darren Latham can paint, like this one http://www.coolminiornot.com/124276 but I am still pretty impressed that I could paint something that small. :P

I am gonna try and finish off the rest of the banner tonight. Then onto the conversion of the actual body of the Termie.

Nice work on the tat and skin tones. This one has a lot of character, I really like where it is going.

Great amount of colour variation for such a small face
I'll have to go back to something small scale and give it a go soon :)

Thanks guys. I am pretty happy with how its going. I am hoping to aim for at least as the same paint quality as my Warboss last year. Lets see how that goes... hahahha. I doubt I will get there!

Here is the banner. I might change the metals, depending on how I decide to paint them on the main parts of the miniature. I also still dont like the sword handle on the freehand, but it may have to do. It is too stressful to keep on repainting it. :P

Love the crackle effect on the back of the banner

I am loving the look of this. I am not a person who has any right to give you any critique, but you yourself said you do not like the sword handle. If you mean the gold part, maybe paint it with the widest part of the wings towards the blade? That way it is shaped more like it would be on a mini? If that is not the part you meant, then I apologize. But this mini is shaping up to be incredible, but your work always is.

You are more then allowed to asked question and critic the work Chaos, MD! Yeah the yellow eagle wing part is the bit I dislike. And yes, I understand where you are coming from that the hilt should be the other way around. I was just copying the company champion's sword seen here:
http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1252469_99120101028_SMCmdSqdmain_873x627.jpg
But, I still am not really a fan of how it has turned out on my banner. I may try and fix it later, I will just have to see how the time permits.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think the crass-guard freehand is going to make much if any difference to the judges. Also its mega tiny so only a few will even notice it unless you point it out.

I agree with this, but I had just thought maybe that is what was bothering Kyle. Anyway, good luck Kyle, looks like you are easily on the right track to keep the quality of the Warboss, and I thought the Warboss was superb.

Maybe bring down a point on the blade to get it to look like the tail feathers or the Imperial Aquila? And then do a head on the other side? But I know that banner is really small, so the freehand design is the size of a postage stamp, so this is still incredible work no matter what you decide.

Hey Kyle, just wanted to say I reckon you've done an amazing job on the banner. You've probably just been looking at it too much, as its freaken awesome! Can't wait to see it in the flesh. Quick question, when you have to keep repainting freehand stuff like the handle, how do you get around caking up the paint? Do you rub it off a bit with thinners or something?
