Pretty much finished with this one for a friend, but I'd like to hear feedback since I have a few other unpainted wolfen to do in the future. So this was both a bit of practice and also a semi-commission. I did something a bit different with the base, and actually did it all up with flock and stuff first, and then undercoated and proceeded to paint it it. I like the effect of painted flock, think I'll do this more in the future.

I love that sculpt. Painting's lovely too though! Reminds me of a painter who was around in the late 80s (won a whole slew of GDs in the '89 GD - chap called Steve Blunt - lovely pastel-ly colours, very smoothly painted. |

Cool miniature Andrew. The face is paticularly well done. The painted flock is a cool idea and it come out really well. It is certainly a good idea as it looks much more natural. |

Thanks for the comments! I have to admit, I wasn't planning for it to be pastel - it just turned out that way! I was trying to incorporate more highlights and contrasts (after seeing a lot of the feedback from Automaton) - this mini actually has a lot more contrast than my other miniatures. I think some of it appears lost in the photos due to the nature of the lighting (I'm still working out how to get the best photos using a daylight lamp, I think I need a proper light box so the lighting isn't so harsh). |

You're right Steve - I should have highlighted more Zenithal than just edging the red - didn't even occur to me at the time because I was looking at how it was done on the Rackham paintjob, and they just did the edge! |

it's a neat job as always, but I find the red and yellow on the sword a bit too bright. It kind of clashes with the feeling of the mini - here's this bestial, primal wolf roaring forward,...with pretty colours on his sword? hehe Hey and I think the NMM could use some contrast and light points!!! |

I always have trouble getting the right NMM gold colour - I guess a lot of it has to do with my paint selection, most are more yellow-ish ochres. On my next Wolfen I'll try starting with a more greeny-ochre colour like Snakebite leather, and try to minimise the amount of yellow in it. |

IMO the flock that you have used on the base gives it a more life-like grass look. Very natural. |
