hey guys,

here is a new one, another commission job for an Italian collector. I am a bit nervous about sending this one away though....the GW orc I did, the limited GD one with the crossed arms, was sent to Italy, but it never arrived...disappeard in the post somewhere. First time that's happened to me, argh...

ANyway, back on topic! This is Brom 'hard Bark' from Enigma, one of the Firstborn minis. Very cool sculpt again from Raul Latorre (of course)...the textures and layers of different clothing and materials are crazy hehe. Really good to paint though, it's so easy to make the enigma minis look good.

So, I didn't deviate much from the official scheme, because the client said he liked Raul's one on the site. But I did make it a bit warmer than the official one, and gave a bit enhanced the turquoise colours a bit more, to give some extra contrast with the more natural-type colours on the rest of the mini.

And I felt like something a bit more simple for the base might suit this time.

Here's the CMON link: http://www.coolminiornot.com/181681

ciao!

Nice job, but I think you've overdone the corrosion/oxidization. The beard however, is especially nice. Very nicely done.

Love all the colour tones, but I have to agree with torm3nt that the oxidation seems a bit strong on the mace - it almost looks like a glow effect from the metal. Maybe it's just a mental thing, but the oxidation on the gold "looks right", whereas it doesn't seem to fit with the colour of the metal on the weapon. I think some of it has to do with the contrast of the wood on the mace too, it doesn't seem as prominent as say, the shades and highlights on the other brown areas of the miniature.

And maaan, I'm really sorry to hear the Orc never arrived! That had got to be my favourite of the Orc skin tones you've painted, such a shame. I hope it at least arrives back at your doorstep in the future with a "return to sender" or something on it!

Yep, must agree with what's been said about the mace. I'd like to see some blood on there, maybe to try and tie in with the pool of blood on the ground.
For the rest of it.....well it's beautiful isn't it, just magnificent.

Beautiful face and beard there, really great. Fabric bits are really nice too and the base sets the scene nicely, though the blood splatter seems out of place since there isn't any on the weapon.

Not a fan of the turquoise though, it's just too heavy, seems odd on the bronze/copper mace head too. It works on the shoulder though.

Can I ask what his back is, it's a bit visually confusing, is it plate armour with holes in it or just lots of dents?

hummm, exactly same problem as last time then, with the aurlok! Obviously I didn't learn my lesson haha  I think I get carried away with t he turquoise colour in particular because I really like the colour...I usually find it a very pleasing complement to a lot of other colours, to my eye at least. But I guess I should be a little more careful with it in future.

Great looking model. What scale is he?
Nice paintjob but I do agree about the verdigris on the mace - it does look a tad glowy.

As far as the postage goes try getting it registered. I sent some greens to a client the UK and with the registered option they must sign for it and you get a copy of the signature - proof of delivery if you like. Aus Post can also track it if they lose it. I think it cost me $8 or so to register 10 greens I valued at $200 (less than the comission but enough to cover my costs and some time).

Sebastian, do you think that the light-tricks played by photography and backdrop might make the turquoise look much more overwhelming as well? I remember your Zenit Orc looked so much better in the flesh than in the photos. Guess there's only one way to find out, and that's to see the dwarf miniature in the flesh (assuming you haven't mailed it off!).

yeah that proof of delivery method is good, but it's only available to cerain countries I think...anyway, I think I might strongly suggest that clients from Italy opt for a better postage option in future - I've heard that many people have problems with the Italian post.

About the mace, yeah you guys are right. But I will say in my defence that it isn't quite so bad in real life - that turquoise colour always seems to show up especially brightly in pics - but it's still overdone. Ah there's numabt's post haha, I didn't see it - well yeah I think the photogrpahy is playing a part hehe.

the scale is 54mm, but he is much smaller, being a dwarf...he is exactly the same height as a rackham mini, but jsut much more bulky and wide!

Rob, about the stuff on his back, well I don't really know what is is either, some mystery weird= texture clothing stuff! I decided it was a kind of leather or something, so I painted it in that grey colour similar to the vambraces and boots.

The mace head isn't meant to be metal, it's leather also - the only metal parts are painted in metallics, like the rim of the shoulder pad for example.

Looking nice seb, I agree with the others about the look of the "over done" oxidation. To me it's not a huge thing, but I'm looking for something to criticise you on.Boots, head bandage, hand wrapping and face are my fav parts.

Very nice mini, I’m going to order the chaos lord soonish. After I rip into all the other things I have to do get my GD stuff going and do my Avatars of war Orc War Lord.

Ha Ha, I love it seb...if anything my complaint would be the pictures are too big. I mean come on, at this point I'm not too worried that your blending was bad  It just drives me crazy that I can't view the whole model on my monitor...I'm giving it a 5 just for that!!! Just kidding The beard is just amazing!!!!!

I was very impressed when I saw this on Wednesday, great work, I really love the colours and the shoulder pad is awesome, as I told you. who knew that a dodgy cast on the shoulder sould look soo good.

But I have to agree with everyone, the tirquiose on the weapon is out of place. Maybe a moss type green would have been better, like some sort of mossy substance that has been growing on his wooden armour.

Great work as always Seb. :D I like the shoulder pad but the weapon needs blood, I think that would also help draw less attention to the oxidation on the mace head. Reallycool miniature.
