Wow, I think yours stuff is really great. I love the Tomcat! :D

With the Nids, the first thing I see is the shiny carapace. it stands out soo much. I like the colours and the blending on it is very smooth. but the rest of the model is not of the same standard as the carapace. I think especially with your reds, you could really make them shine like the carapace it you wanted, and it would give the eye something eslse to look at as well.

But really, this are quite minor things, I think that the Nids look great, and they would look very striking on the Table Top.

Hey there Ed, nice tomcat! Love the colouring of the metals, very detailed. Your 'nids are quite a contrast to your scale model, being so bright and bold. If you haven't done so already, check out the articles section of the forum for tips and techniques.

One thing I can suggest you experiment with is using colour for shading and highlighting, rather than just black and white. Black and white give a very distinctive style which is attention grabbing, but tends to lack realism (sorry I can't explain a little better, but to go into the details would take pages and pages - there are lots of articles on the web, and also in art books). Other than that, put your weathering and detailing skills from your military modelling to good use :) !

Wow great work. I agree with Kyle that Tom Cat is stunning. The tyranids are great and the colour scheme is very stunning. The blendng is fantatsic. Welcome to the site and I look forward to seeing more of your miniatures.

Cheers,

Jamie.

Awesome looking Tomcat just amazing :D

I love those nids. I think the carapace looks brilliant. I agree about the red, if you did that in a similar metallic style it would really top the models off.

Absolutely stunning Tomcat, and as for "not the right place" no it is, after all it's a painted scale model so it's fine!

Love the Tyranids too, but as Kyle mentioned there's a big difference to the awesome blending on the carapace and the rest of the figure. Keep up the good work though!

welcome.

like others have said the F-14 is freaking awesome. I love the weathering on all the different panels, the markings just the overall finish is superb, and all in 1/48 (28mm) scale.

I like the nmm effect the blue carapace has, nice blending, just dont think it fits well with the models, with the rest of the model painted so dark. when i first looked at the pics when loading i though that it was platemail armour on the nid.

I'm a big fan of the carapace that the Ravener has... it's got a great look to it and looks technically good too.

For me the red clashes with the blue, too dark I think. I'd be tempted to take it from the lightest point here as a basecoat and go up into orange?
Give it the same treatment and attention that the carapace got and it will look great!

never expected got such a warm welcome here , thx guys !

but like I foreseed the tomcat totally overcasted my poor nidz

and just as people said there are still lots works and improvements can be done for the rest body and skin on the bug, I will try to blending those places too next time.

for the huge different styles between cat and nids, however is connect with my location and my language. as I am a chinese who now study Deutsch in germany and left all of my stuffs at beijing, including my Mr.color paint ,lots tools and my lovely airbrush. began with nothing and bought all stuffs I could get from local GW shop ,that made me got a chance to start from zero ,and I choose to use waterbased paint from now on.the result is my bugs in the pics.

here is a carnifex I ve done before I left china ,all with Mr.color and some parts were done by airbrush.

after photoed him I fand the idea of gloss Alien like monster doesnt work very well with mini ,as the strong reflection damaged the details in some level due to the small size of mini.(hope you can get my point here)

now I decide to spend a whole new decade to become a real mini painter, and hopefully got some GoldenDemons on my shelf (after saw this year's GD in cologne ,I fand out that 's hell hard to achieve, damn those french people  )
