Figured I would post up a link to these as they aren't here already. GD 2012 photos on Volomir's blog:

http://volomir.blogspot.com.es/2012/07/ ... -live.html

Slayer Sword has gone to Pablo López (paloji) for this Diorama (Volomir's notes about it here: http://volomir.blogspot.com.es/2012/07/ ... sword.html):

Looks like painting season has officially begun!

That's what I was thinking. I saw a link to the entries, and wondered why I hadn't seen them on here yet. When I went to create the topic, I realised Kyle usually gets in first. I want to paint now, but I just installed Team Fortress 2...

It was idiotic of me, I can see me spending too much time on that in the next few weeks...

I knew about the Spanish GD, but am on holidays at the moment, so havent had a chance to post. I will take a good look when I get back, but the entries I have seen look cool. That Giant looks pretty sweet.

Figured you were on holidays at the time. See how much news you end up bringing us of the outside world? :)

After having a good look at the winners. There are some mighty fine entries there.

A few that stand out for me are the Ogre Pirate and Rusto's Goblin Chariot. The Sleeping Giant obviouly... :) The Empire Knight looks sooo good! I love it. Oh and the Eldar Wraithlord is heaps cool!

40k single is a bit odd.... the gold winner doesnt even have a base! Good to see the Female Inquisitor finished, but I think it is let down by the paintjob.

Oh, also being a massive Banshee fan, (and I guess now the Mindfishers Collaborations) .... I think the change of the bases of the Blood Angel vs Chaos Marine makes it look so much better.

I cant say I am that motivated to paint by these but. Its more of seeing entries from the usual people that I like, and a few crazy ideas, but other then that, not an epic GD of winning entries I feel.

looks like GW are really clamping down on their IP, with only paintjobs and colour schemes and themes of basing conforming to their IP doing well. Take the WFB single for example, that Ushoran king of ghouls, tremendously well executed sculpt (based on GW artwork) and paint job (non-standard GW), got nothing ! Hope the same thing does not happen to our GD.

These are dark days, friends.

Dark days.

I'll accept that.

Diorama was certainly the stand out category and I must agree that there were some unusual decisions again- less about talent in some cases and more about fluff and towing the line? It is disappointing when it comes to this.
