Don't get me wrong - it's not that I don't think it's well done, it's just that it looks like it is more in place at something like the Euromilitaire competition, or any other Historical/Military mini comp.

The painting is more that style, and the sculpting is more, well 'manga-ish' to me, and it just that when I look at it, I don't see "Imperial Guardsman" jumping out at me.

The stereotypical image would be more of a square-jawed, helmeted version, with more iconography in the form of imperial eagles, skulls squad markings etc.

Maybe it's just me...?

I find it a tiny bit disconcerting too, the Spanish guys have taken such a huge leap and it takes a bit of getting used to... That said I think Banshee's guardsman is possibly the best GD entry ever... It's a funny thought - if someone like Jaume Ortiz or Latorre had of decided to turn their hand to fantasy/sci-fi earlier on this could have happened years ago...

Hey I see more imperial eagles and skull squad markings too, as Marcus pointed out - obviously the photos don't do the piece enough justice!

The sculpted folds in the T-shirt are exceptional!
