Its Crap! :P

Nah, very good Stevo, I really like the colours on the skin, and the base is really cool.

How did it go in the competition?

Wow! Great smooth paint job... Lovethe skin but i think that blue shading is little overdone and its overhelming green. I would glaze it with some redish or brownish colour...

(Hah another Blue and Grean theoretical discusion Seb?? Naah just kidding)

Very, very nice, the colour changes are terrific.
Certainly one of the better versons of this mini that I've seen.

hey steve,

I really like this - I think your skin tones are really interesting and the gloss effects you've used add a nice extra dimension to the mini.. it's a bit hard to see in these pics, but from what I saw of some of your earlier shots, the weathering on the sword was really very well done. And your scratches and weathering on the shield his back are great as always.. I'd love to see this in person some day :D

There's been something that's not quite worked for me with this though, and i've had a hard time trying to figure it out. I think for me, the face seems to be lost between the really awesome colours you've used on his arms. For me, the way you've worked a yellowy-brown on the upper raised surfaces of his muscles, and then put the purples and blues in the recessed areas really makes it interesting and I like this alot.

But the face seems to get a bit 'lost' amongst it all. My focus seems to be drawn more to his arms than his face, and I think that maybe it is because you've used all the same colours on his face, without much difference to the ones used on his arms, but I think you've actually used less of the yellowy-brown.

I think that if you had used the yellowy-brown on his face more than on the arms, it would have creater more of a focal point on his face, and less on his arms.

Maybe the white dot in his eye could be a tiny bit smaller too. But that's a bit nitpicky - I still really love it overall. great work on the grot too :D

BTW - the base is quite nice.. its not over the top, but still has enough to make it interesting :)

My idea was to glaze the blue shadows with some reds or browns to make it little bit warmer warmer. Not just swap blue color for them.
Now, as i said blue is (for me ofcouce) little bit to strong and cool. And i think this is the main reason why the face doesn't stands out of the rest. And as Shgray said Yelow brown color is a "must" :D

Really like the skin tones, thinking I should paint up an orc now my mino is almost done just to get some more skin tone practice in myself. (Always too many projects to do . . .) I'm not too sure about the little pock marks on the skin though, doesn't quite work for me.

The swrod and shield look great as well

And thinking about what the others said on adjusting the face to make it more of a focal point. The colour of the ears seems to be a bit similar to the fur round the back of his neck, so possibly a stronger red and pink could bring the focus up a little. And also the red metal on the eypatch could have some stronger orange highlights.

But overall a very nice pice, and a nice little base.
And a great nose on the goblin

Hi steve. Very nicely done. My only criticism would be all those tiny holes on the skin of both the ork and gretchin. Did you consider what would cause wounds like that? They seem more suited to painted surfaces than skin. Apart from that the skin, blood, metals etc. are all really good.
