Painter's Choice Painting Contest.
Hello,
Following discussions between myself and other painters at MOAB this year we have decided to run our own little contest alongside the GD. This is a fun contest in which everyone will be painting the exact same model, this format allows everyone to show off their individual style and interpretation while working from the same basic canvas. It will then be judged by popular vote the the Golden Camel's dinner in Sydney.

PRIZES
The winner will recieve eternal glory, a trophy and (drum roll) .......$150 cash! Generously sponsored by Paul. G Studios.
There will also be some bonus pizes donated by EUREKA Miniatures.

The chosen miniature is Alistair and his faithful pistol toting sidekick Morris.

Image

This miniature is the first in a new line I am developing (working title 'Victoria Miniatures'). He will be offered pre-release for this comp. He can be purchased from Eureka Miniatures at a cost of $10 and comes in 4 parts: Alistair, Morris, base, base insert. You can purchase your miniature by emailing Nic at Eureka Miniatures nicr@eurekamin.com.au and asking for Victoria's Miniature. If you are in Adelaide you can Email me directly Victoria@internode.on.net

Guidelines

Aims.
-To have fun pitting your talents against some of Australia's best with a common miniature as the starting base.
-Support a new local product.
-Encourage and strengthen the Aussie miniature painting community by bringing painters together.

Rules
Basically as long as there is still some recogniseable element of the original miniature, anything goes. The idea of this comp is to free painters up by giving them an unlimited creative canvas.

Base size
Any base size from any gaming system is allowed, from no base at all to a slab the size of a billiard table with 250 miniatures re-enacting the battle for Endor.

Display bases
Optional and with no size restriction, if you have always dreamed of mounting a miniature on a 3 foot high stone plinth and can be bothered hauling it all the way to Sydney, this is the comp you have been waiting for.

Conversions
Due to no licencing restrictions any bits from any range can be used. Just as long as some recognisable element of Vic's miniature remains.

Joint Entries
If you can con someone else to help with your model, no problem, just be sure to include all the names involved on the entry form.

Judging- This will be done by vote at the Golden Camel Dinner http://www.mainlymedieval.com/ozpainter ... ic.php?t=5. Everyone attending the camels will get a vote. There will be several GD winning painters there so be sure your entry will be subjected to expert scrutiny.

How to enter
Entries do not have to be handed in in person, as long as the miniature is at the Golden Camel Dinner in Sydney on the 11th of Nov you are free to get it there by any means available to you. I will be personally muleing models to Sydney for anyone in Adelaide who wants to enter. Gav Clarke has kindly offered to transport minis from Queensland. If anyone is coming to Sydney from the other states and is willing to volunteer it would be appreciated.

If this is a success we hope to run it again next year. By then I will have more models in my range to choose from. All the entries will be photgraphed at the dinner and posted here on on our shiny new forum, so even if you cant get there you will get to see the results.

If you have any questions or suggestions post them up here.

Best wishes and good luck,
Victoria Lamb

I'll be in for that.

I won't be able to be there on the day, so would someone going to the dinner be happy to receive my entry by mail, take it along, and post it back? I'll cheerfully remiburse any costs.

Wellington, NZ.

Don't think there is anyone heading over, so I'd need to post it to someone who was going.

I've just sent an email about ordering one.

Now.... to receive it, paint it and send it to someone who's going to the Dinner.

Thanks Gonzoangel, we forgot to account for the accursed GST :( It will make it $11 within Aust, but still $10 for international orders.
Hey Dagger, feel free to send it to me if you like i'll be muling entries from Adelaide and am happy to add some extras.
That goes for anyone who does not have someone they can send an entry to Sydney with.
PM me for an address.
Cheers,
vic.

BTW thanks for supporting this guys, it looks like it is going to be fun.

Andrew,

If I get mine painted - I'll send it to you to be included in the night's activities (if that's OK).

I'll PM you closer to the time if I need your address.

Cheers.

Andrew,

If that's ok, it might be easier. That way Vic doesn't have to worry about hauling it cross country, and I might have an extra day or so to paint :-)

PM'ing now.

Richard
