hey Beau / Holly,
you can paint it on too with a brush instead of a toothpick. its easier to control.

the great thing is you can apply it onto the top of thin twigs and branches and not have it droop down at all, so that it looks like proper heavy snow laden branches, unlike the snow on karaikal's emissary. http://coolminiornot.com/144028

Hi weisern,
Thanks for the tip, just to clarify....

Do paint straight from the pot with a brush or do you add some water to make it "spreadable"?

straight from the pot is quite thick, so i grab some chunks out with the bottom of the brush and stir a little water into it to make it easier to apply on with a brush. If you want a section of the snow to be a bit see through, then thin it down a little more with water. you can always add a more thicker paste later to build it up, if its too translucent.

have fun!

Marks all the way. :D I agree with Alex and Peter. The subtle colours you have used aren't over powering but break up the vast area of rock which is on the base and snow wise, from what you were saying about it having no cristaline appearence and looking "soft" to me gives the impression of it melting. So the old saying of "less is more" i think corresponds here.
