hey guys, I was going to save this until I had my web store ready, but it's taking ages hehe...and after seeing Luke's version, I thought it might be fun to have a look at the differences in colour choice and so on.

I painted this one very fast...about 12 hours, which is super light speed by my standards haha (usually takes about 35 hours per mini for me). So she is nothing spectacular, but I jsut wanted to get something fairly presentable to show.

as beautiful as ever. My only real qualm is with the crease in her skin from her butt (which is lovely, btw :P). Imo it comes a little too far out on her left leg. Geez seb, you need a girl (for study purposes!) =P

the base is rockin'.

Wow Seb, really nice stuff. A very simple paint job but its looks spectacular. Im definately going to be grabbing a few of your mini's once i get hold of some $'s :D

On a related note, it would be great to know how you achieved the snow base.
Im planning a snow base for one of my GD entries this year but am a little stuck on how to achieve it, and your base looks exactly how i would like mine to end up looking :D

Very nice Seb. May be missing a few extra touches but still a great smooth paint job and some good colour choices. (Unlike my own stuff at the moment :) ). Maybe a couple of extra highlights on the hair, but that could be the angle of the pics.

I have to say that I generally have an issue with extensive snow bases, I think it's the way you tend to get a single large white splodge that looks like a marshmallow with a figure stuck on top. But even though you've covered most of the base with snow, the different depths give a really nice effect as you can see some of the dark rock showing through in places.

Anyway, question about making the figures. Do you have a colour scheme in your head when you are actually sculpting them? Just wondering if when you are adding little details it's simply "A bottle would look good here" or "This could add a nice splash of red to the figure".

Mmmmmm.... I really like it.

And you know what I am going to say. I cant believe it is not on a dirt type base!!! Amazing! :P Nah, but in all seriousness, I reckon the base really suits the model and your current 'Cold' atmosphere that you like to give your minis. The wet snow looks great, is it Jo Sonja's paste?

Of, course I like the colour scheme, and technique. I was lucky to see you when you had this half done, and its good to see it done. Man you are getting alot faster, which is good!

Hey keep a copy for me, after seeing this and Luke's version, I want to paint one up now.

I'm glad you like it guys :)

yeah the snow on the base is jo sonja's texture paste; really easy to do! I just painted the rock underneath as normal, then painted on 5 or 6 layers of the texture paste. I like the translucent look of it; works very well I think, because it avoids that stark white 'marshmallow' look conrad was talking about. A bit softer and more icy looking.

haha, I totally agree! How convenient it would be to have somehow I could dress up in fantasy style clothing, in various compromising positions hehe...

I see what you are saying about the crease; I think you're probably right.

Conrad - nah I don't really think about colour scheme when sculpting hehe...but colours come into my head, of course. I guess it's because I've trained myself to think about how to paint a mini when I'm holding it in front of my face for so long!

Its great to see how you, as the creator, invisioned her. She really is quick and easy to paint.

Beautiful paintjob on a beautiful mini. Love the skintones you have achieved.

It's interesting to see it painted by the sculpter and confirm what some of the finer details are. I'm currently painting my one to go with my Dark Elf army, so seeing yours has helped me a lot.

Ooooh. That's really nice. The colour scheme is great, and the snow base looks terrific. I'm looking forward to trying out my Jo Sonja paste now as it sounds really easy to use. I'm just waiting to see how many more of these pop up in the next few weeks.

It's really neat to see the same mini painted different ways. I like your color choices too. :)

What color mix did you use for the skin? I really like the shading you did on the legs.

The effect of the snow looks nice too - it looks like it's melting just a bit so it's a little slushy. We get a good bit of snow here...and I've seen snow look like that pretty often.

Oh, and it looks like a great sculpt too. :D

As ever Seb, your work sets such a high standard - both in painting and now in sculpting!

What I've always loved about your stuff is that it's so very distinctive - there are great painters out there who produce some fantastic stuff, but there's sometimes nothing in their work that I could say 'I know who did that'. Without exception, whenever you show one of your works it's usually very easy to spot a 'Seb', and I honestly believe that's what makes someone a really great artist.

Oh my god, 12 hours :!: :?: :!: How the hell Seb? This is gorgeous, i really like the colours used and the skintone is great, the shading and lighting on this mini is really well done, it's stupid that you can paint this well in 12 hours!

Hey may i ask how you did the snow effect on the edge of the robe, i think it looks great and i might give it a go on my commissar...

Thanks guys, glad you like it :)

wendy - it's hard to say exactly the colours I used on the flehs areas. There were a lot of very thin glazes layers with different colours. I started with a fairly typical flesh colour, made a little more neutral by adding some GW fortress grey. And then made it a little more pinkish. I added blue/purple colours for the shadows, and quite neutral light grey and whites for highlights. Then, once this basic stage was finished, I used glazes with quite strong reds over the mid-tone parts. Colours like P3 sanguine highlight (like GW red gore mayve, a ltitle more pink though), and also GW dark flesh. Then dark blue, like P3 Exile blue (like GW regal blue with a touch of grey maybe) in the shadows. Then the extreme higlights were a very ligth colour, with a hint of blue also.

black rat - the snow on her loincloth thing and boots is the same stuff I used for t he base - jo sonja's texture paste. Just a very small amount applied though, watered down a little and stippled on carefully in a few layers.

jamie - I look forward to seeing your version mate! :)
