Just came across this on the basement
Thought I'd post it here, wouldn't want anyone to complain they didn't have time to prepare
After all, it is only 2 and a half years to go !!

(That means you Kyle :!:  :!:  :!: )

World Expo 2011 : Montreux

Quote:
Hi Guys,
Just rec'd an advice from the people who put the Montreux bid together that they have been awarded the WE for 2011. No other details as yet but apparently the votes were as follows:-
Switzerland, Montreux - 21
Italy, Udine - 14
Italy, Catania - 10
with 6 clubs not voting/abstaining

With the excellent facilities at Montreux for conferences & festivals as well as Swiss organisation, it should make for a good show. I'll post other details as I get them. It should also be reasonably easy to reach from the UK which is another plus.

As much as I would have liked to go to Italy, I'm quite pleased about this decision. I'll try my utmost to be there! And, I'll start planning entries right away! :)

They are both expensive so i dont really care :D

It would have been nice to go to Italy, because i havent been there yet, but i dont speak any italien and i do speak a little french and mediocre german so i guess switzerland is the betst.

its a long way away, but i was thinking over the weekend that this could be a cool opportunity for a big of an OzPainter's 'trek' to an overseas event.. depending on time of year perhaps a few side events (ala GD or something) could be squeezed in.

I know this is something I would be keen to go to, having never been to an overseas event before. It'll mean i'll have to work seriously on my painting but I think that's a good thing.

So would other people be interested in planning for this for 2 and a half yrs time? ;) Plenty of time to save! :D

I suspect it will be late Spring or early to mid Summer
The last one was July

And I'm sure Seb would like some OZ company next time :)

Automaton: those painted pics on the (Heroquest) box were awesome! I looked at them as virtually an unattainable goal in painting, haha...

I might actually be able to get there for that.

...at my current rate of painting, I'd better get started straight away. I might even get something finished on time.

I'll definitely try my hardest to be there, since there's a good chance that the German GD may occur around those dates in August.

was just looking at qantas website, sydney to frankfurt. they have a 'sale' column, making 2 way tickets total about $2000.
