Isnt there now an Andrea store for the US? That seems like it would be a cheaper option to buy from? I will try and find the link to the site.

Oh, and the Discussion thread is cool models from around the world... so Anything that is not 1:1 scale can be posted there, not just paintjobs...

You're right, KyleM. I'll take a closer look at this tonight.

Let know if a group order happens. I really want the Big Marine guy and and that new Warlord Saga mini that looks like the people from Avatar.

You could cut down on postage by going to the world expo and buying one at their stand

Hmm, maybe that doesn't actually save much money :)

Now that you've pointed that out, it just occurred to me that I might have to save up for mini shopping and the expo, as I didn't know there were going to be cool retailers like that. That means I have to plan for space as well coming back

LOL now that is a cool idea. Just imagine the display base to go with such a unit. :D By the look of it there is certainly more of these to come.

Bloody hell! I didn't like the first Dark Nova miniature, but this one is awesome!

BTW, KyleM, I sent you a PM about what you wanted done with your Dark Nova sergeant.

Another Marine for the Dark Nova series. Looks like this one was done exclusivly in 3D with Zbrush:

I reckon you can tell it's CG as well. Just very small thinks that don't quite work and that I think a human sculptor would have caught. It may be just me but I've yet to see a CG sculpt that looks as good as a hand made one. There is just something a bit 'lifeless' about them.

I don't like this one as much as the other two. Its just not interesting, the pose is strange and I dont like the rifle being held like that. Also the cloth butt cover.... why is it even there? to convey movement?... it just looks out of place.

Compare the other two dark nova figures and this one, the other two have more relaxed poses and no stange out of place additions to the sculpt. Then this one comes out, its meant to be dynamic, with a flowing butt-cloth in an 80's dance move..... or maybe he's just meant to be following along on an early morning TV exercise program? I can't tell.

Then there is his face, while it may work on a stationary figure, I can't do his dance move and look forward with the cold superman stare that he has.

The detail appears softer to me and the butt cape is very 40k which wrecks the piece IMO. One explanation is it is toilet paper that got stuck.
