For anyone who hasn’t seen this before, a description of the OzPainters Challenges can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5369

This challenge is…

Make a base. Paint a base. Post the base.

If you want to put a mini on the base, that's cool. You can do that. But the focus will be on making a base and painting it. You can save it for a mini you want to do later, or just sit it on the shelf. This challenge is to see what you can come up with for the basing of your model.

Entries are due by May 31st at 11:59pm (NSW time). Voting will commence the next day and be open for two weeks. To enter, post an image (or images) in this thread, as well as a brief description about working on the model, like the look you were aiming for or techniques you used. If you use CMON or Putty and Paint, feel free to include a link to your post on there in the description as well. If you win the vote, you get to pick the topic for Challenge 11.

Fairly broad topic. Hopefully some people really get into it. I'm in naturally. :D

Thinking either forest or graveyard... both, or desert... wasteland, street scene. So many choices.

Cheers kyle yeah the head just seemed to fit what i was doing i told you I'd use it one day  . Thinking of going fantasy forest if that makes any sense with fluorescent mushrooms and stuff but no mini planned for it as yet . Are you doing anything for the challenge?

Oh yes the base is for the contest! Its a bit similar to yours in that its a crazy eclectic mix of bits and textures and I just threw it all together. When I undercoat it I will take a pic... its hard to see at the moment, as lots of bits are scavenged stuff from things from previous discarded projects.

I'll have to start my base in the next few days or you guys will leave me in the dust. Which is likely what my base will be like. Seen many dusty, rocky areas traveling up to Lithgow and back these past few days. Also I mostly do moist landscapes so time for a change.

Winning is the last thing on my mind I assure you. It got old real quick.

Need to get some height in my base, something else I usually don't do.

Wouldn't facial hair work better, its tougher, not so soft. Or boar bristles? Attack a paintbrush or boar bristle hair brush. Fine fishing line could work too.

How is everyone going with this at the moment? I'm planning on going beach combing next week at some point to see if I can find a few interesting things I can use once I get back to my real painting desk. I have

NO IDEA

what I am going to do. I'm possibly going to try something fun and slightly random to see what evolves. I read the Massive Voodoo Documentary book the other day, and want to try something over the top from my usual stuff.

Got my base in the works, Jason is the one in the lead here. He'll probably have a dozen by the end of it.

I've got pics, I'll try and get them posted tomorrow sometime, got family time today, my brief reprieve is caused by the need for food.
