I got inspired over the weekend to start some projects that were for the Golden Demon. I am working on two projects: one was an inquisitor scale miniature of a priest and the other is a unit of eldar with a farseer and warlocks.
The priest was given to me by a friend so I thought I would paint it as a display piece. However I was sick of taking forever to paint a miniature so thought I would try something different and use a restricted palette and time frame. I used more natural colours and went for a dirty look. This is really different for me and marked contrast from what I normally do. It came together really quickly and it only took two nights to paint, in total only 12 hours. I am happy with the way it looks and I am not really concerned about the flaws in the painting (I know there quite a few). Now I just have to build a base and paint it to finish off the project.
The main colours on the robes include: VMC Black brown, German Cam Beige, some middlestone and silvergrey. Darkened areas included washes of Liche purple and Catachan Green.
The metallics were really basic painted with chainmail and shinning gold washed with black brown and tiny amounts of hawk turquoise. I gave them a couple of coats to dull down the metallics.
The second project that I am currently on is a squad for my Eldar Army I plan on using at next years Tassie State Titles. I hope to have this unit done a bit over a week and have gone for a Biel-Tan paint scheme to fit in with the rest of my army. I am fairly happy with progress so far but I might need to get some more scorpion green for the lighter highlights.
The green is achieved by using: Dark Angels green, snot green and I should use scorpion green and skull white. For more depth in the folds of the cloth I do use tiny washes of liche purple, this also helps with the blending of the highlights. I will post more pictures as the projects progress.
