oh boy, I was just coming here to post these pics but you beat me to it kyle haha.

WOW WOW WOW.....Just congratulations to them all, it's blown me away completely!

Spanish dominance in 2006!!!

france sword: banshee
UK sword: ALbert
Spain sword: banshee

Well then!!

ANd only two of the gold winners from this spain GD were not spanish - so they successfully held the fort against the revenge assault haha.

Banshee's winner, wow....it's just amazing...what else can I say!

and julien casses mini in fantasy single - it's really great, it's like he won with an allan c type mini, even though allan himself was in the category!! Julien's entry was more allan c-ish than allan's entry haha

'and how cool is ruben's rate ogre, the bronze in fantasyt large - brutal!!!

Just all the minis are amazing.....such high quality, all of them. SO inspiring!! ANd look at the quality of the youngbloods - there are even more great painters on the way!!

ANd finally - how good is it to have photos of all the minis straight after then event like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice stuff. My favourite is the bronze 40K single. It has a real story to it.
I thought the weathering & scratches on the White Scars biker guy were a little overdone. It's starting to look a bit like Camouflage to me...
Laughed at the "Gentleman of the Rings" translation.
Very talented folks these Spanish painters!

Damn there are some incredible models in that competition, just incredible. Great to see they have coverage of all the entries too, not just the winners

The Silver winning Space Wolves terminator squad is probably my favorite. Its by far the best painted squad I’ve ever seen!

gonzo - maybe it's because it's a link to the babelfish translated page, rather than the actual page - just go to the GW global site, then go to spanish GW, and you should be able to find it.

actually I'll jsut do it for you haha - here is the link:

What excellent coverage!

I can't believe they took that many photos... wow.

HOWEVER the quality is terrible... soo many photos I looked at were blurred or slightly out of focus... it drove me nuts I had to stop!

Quantity over quality... But I tell you what, that Greater Daemon of Slaanesh is awesome...

Anywho, back to baking in the 35 degree evening heat... frag that for a joke!

Most GD's take that many photos and get them up on the web straight away.

See where Aus GW is dropping the ball Ben ;) And there can be no excuse about photo quality considering the rig studio has got here in Aus. :D

Hehe. I have no idea what you are talking about Steve! :? :P :? Try the other link that Sebastian posted. I just used the translator, because I dont speak Spanish.

Anyways, I found this article about the Spanish Team here:
http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=es_en&trurl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.games-workshop.es%2fcomunidad%2fgames_day%2fgd06%2fspanish_01.asp
Quite an interesting read. I find it funny that they chose Red for their T-shirts, because it would be easier to find people, if they got lost. :P

some awesome work amongst all that. I still think the French have it over them though.
I found much of the entries to be a little bland (must be my primary colour bias coming through eh Sebastian :) ) but some outstanding conversion work in any case. I love the Slaanesh Demon - great posing.

the sword winner is a bit meh IMO, it just doesn't seem to scream "GW world" at me and seems a little foreign in its style, almost Manga in its style?

I dunno, fantastic paintwork, but some of the sword winners coming out of Europe lately seem to be straying from their recognised image...

marcus - are you serious that you don't really like banshee's sword winner?! oh man...talk about different taste, you and me haha - I am so blown away by alfonso's mini....utterly amazing in my book, I LOVE it!!! Sure, maybe it's not classic GW, but I think that's a good thing - the creativity is flowing so strongly in the entries at the spanish GD, things are going in all directions, so many interesting ideas and things to look at. WHy would anyone want to inhibit that!

So I think I'll have to disagree with your assessment of things 'straying from the recognised image' - I view that more as creativity, skill and originality flowing from the great passion they all have! :D

I agree with you Seb. I love what the europeans are doing. It is so different from the GD's in the 90's, the passion is there, its just going in a different direction.

I think Alfonso's ideas are straight out of the 40k universe, he reads things in the novels and in the codices and trys to create that in his minis, he has such a great talent and imagination. I think Major Rawne is an excellent mini, I like his Blood Pact more, because its evil  but his minis are fantastic, and definatly scream 40k when I look at them.

I cant speak for anyone else, but I love what people are doing for entries these days. I have only been interested in GD's for a couple of years, when they started this whole new image thing, with the french and such. So I dont know any better. I like the darker more realistic look that is the norm these days. Brighter colours are out, dark is in! :D
