Bearing the figure of Saint Michael casting out the demon. As disease and illness were associated with the casting out of devils and demons, so these coins were often pierced and worn as 'touch-pieces'. When the monarch performed the ceremony of "the laying on of hands", an Angel coin was given to those that were touched.
This piece has been pierced so that it can be worn as a decorative piece or in the purse.
Please note; Although medieval coins were cast in silver, these replicas are cast in lead free pewter, and then gold plated (24ct).
