Further details:

The original of this 14th century item was excavated from the Thames foreshore in London and is now in the Museum of London. During the 14th century, pewter was still a material of great value, the ownership of which would have been restricted to those of relatively high status. To date a number of this type of candleholder have been found, both in pewter and brass. The stem of this replica is cast hollow, as on the original; allowing the rough casting to be mounted on a lathe for finishing. A modern taper of either paraffin or beeswax will fit comfortably within the socket. [Made under licence from the Museum Of London.]

Period: 1300 - 1400 AD, 1400 - 1500 AD
