15th Century Carnelian and Pearl necklace.

Rich, red carnelian, and white freshwater 4mm rice pearls, strung on white silk and hand knotted in a style derived from a 15th Century portrait of a noble beauty. The necklace is clasped with a hand crafted 14K gold filled sterling silver hook and loop, similar to the styles used during this period.

Historical gem notes; The carnelian was believed to carry many virtues including that of staunching blood and preventing wrath, while pearls are considered the chief of all white stones, having many virtues such as that of comfort and cleansing of all superfluous humors'.

Each pearl is a unique jewel; the pearls have been matched as closely as possible however, each natural stone does vary in colour, shape and size. The pearls are natural and untreated (unless otherwise noted) and of a minimum A grade or above quality. The pearls are strung on 100% silk, hand knotted and finished with a S-hook clasp
