Whatsoever ye wyll; Dance book.

Author:

Webb, Cait

Summary:

Full descriptions of the dances from Whatsoever ye wyll; Dance in the 15th Century CD (Gaita) from the original sources, with the music as it appears in the source, and full glossary of steps. The basic tune for each dance is given here but there is also a book with full musical arrangements of each dance available (cf Whatsoever ye wyll Arrangements for Dancing). The order of dances in this booklet differs slightly from that on the CD. This is because the dance instructions are ordered approximately by difficulty, with new steps introducted dance by dance.

It is recommended (for novices) to learn the dances within any one genre, in the order presented here, or to look back at a previous dance if a step is not explained. There is also 'Summary of Steps' at the end of the booklet.

Contents: Dances from 15th C Italy- Piva, Saltarello, Chirintana, Voltanti in ca Rosina, Rossina, Phoebus, Damnes, Belreguardo, Belreguardo nuovo for two, Belreguardo novo for three, Colonese, Glioxia, Pizochara, Duchesco, Legiardra; Burgundian Basse Danse -Filles a Marier; Dances from the Gresley Manuscript (England C.1480) - What so ever ye wyll de duobis, Aras, bugill, tamrett de duobus, egle de tribus; 16th C France - Pavane, Galliard; summary of Steps.
