Further details:
The acorn is a traditional symbol of immortality and was also regarded as a talisman and remedy against cholera and fluxes. It was undoubtedly these properties that made it so popular as a knop motif. More unusual is the use of brass for the knop, present in the original of this replica instead of the more common pewter knop spoons.
