The original of this pomander is in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Rhomboid in shape, with a pierced, gold plated tetrahedral cage, it can be suspended from the girdle, neck or clothing and used by both men and women. Pomanders would have contained scented wax balls or perfumed cloth which were activated with the warmth of the hand.
